Jacqueline Poirier

Biography

Jacqueline Poirier was born and raised in Mississauga, Ontario, just outside of Toronto. Realizing at a very young age that her daughter had a unique gift, Poirier’s mother encouraged and supported her artistic endeavours at every turn. Poirier’s formal art training began when she was awarded a spot at a well known Toronto-area fine art secondary school. Following that she went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The Ontario College of Art & Design (OCAD) in 2005 with a major in drawing and painting. She has since moved on to become a successful independent artist, specializing in custom and commissioned art works.

Poirier’s passion lies in surrealism and abstract art, though she has a wide range of training and talent in all other areas of painting. Studying the works of such great artists as Salvador Dali, Yves Tanguy, and Renee Magritte have helped her develop her own unique and inspiring style. Colourful and exciting, her paintings always suggest movement, advancement and depth. She has completed several commissioned projects on both a private and public basis. Her work is displayed in various locations throughout Toronto and New York City.

Over the past few years Poirier has travelled extensively and explored various art forms from around the globe. Working primarily in oil paint on canvas, she is currently developing a new body of work that will bring her vast travel experiences, memories and dreams to life. Upon completion, the series will be displayed at a local Toronto restaurant.
